It all started with an idea, of course, a custom built waffle cart set up in the Victoria Inner Harbour with a cute little store to follow that same year. Soon after, expansion was unavoidable, it became our passion, demanding all of our attention. For Renaat, the best way to approach this was to travel with his son Arno and the waffle cart to Toronto. They successfully made it all the way through CBC Dragons’ Den Show back in 2010, looking for professional help. The show generated a lot of interest in Canada and worldwide. The expectations were high, the sharks were circling and what we got out of the show was the exposure, but no dragon however. It was definitely worth the trip, a great story, and we would do it again. Picking through all the noise and living up to the expectations has been the challenge, they call it the Dragons’Den effect.
Though the Caribbean isles are well known to outsiders, Caribbean cuisine remains a hidden gem. Uncover the edible treasure of the tropics with our eclectic Caribbean fare and drinks. Vibrant colours, tropical plants, and kitschy signs bring you back to days spent skipping geometry in Caribbean boarding school, creating a casual, fun atmosphere for patron inhalation. The friendly and personable staff keeps the vibe upbeat, even when jerk seasonings rub off on the back-talking forks and napkins.

We love sharing coffee with you. We love seeing your curiosity grow as you delight in all the flavours coming from the cup. In 2006, we opened our first café and roastery in Victoria, BC. It was a small space with ten seats and a roaster tucked in the corner. Today, we have expanded our roaster and bustling café to include a quiet lounge and training facility. The original Discovery Coffee fills a whole city block! We also proudly showcase Victoria’s first syphon halogen bar at our beautiful Oak Bay location and serve up tasty food and spirits at Discovery Station in James Bay. We are committed to respect on every level – respect for the farmers who produce our coffee, for the folks who brew it, and the people who drink it. Our mission is to foster social responsibility in a lasting and meaningful way by brewing awesome coffee.
